Playa Grande

Playa Grande is a laid-back beach town known for its beautiful coastline, excellent surf and relaxed Costa Rican atmosphere. The beach is part of Las Baulas National Marine Park, an important protected area that helps preserve the coastline and nesting habitat of leatherback sea turtles. It is quieter and less developed than nearby Tamarindo, with local restaurants, small hotels, rental homes and some of the best waves in the area. There is a mix of hotels and Airbnbs available, and we have included some recommended options in the links below.

As a reminder, the closest airport is Liberia, Costa Rica — airport code LIR — not the country of Liberia in Africa.
